My visual representation connects to a scriptural story and character very well. The representation itself is showing the resurrection of Jesus. There are 3 main characters that are scriptural characters in this art work. These are, The Angel Gabriel, Mary Magdalene, and Mary mother of James. These three characters are mentioned in the Bible many times. Each of these characters also play a very significant part in some parable or story in the Bible and they do play a major part in the resurrection of Jesus.
There are some disadvantages of choosing the resurrection of Jesus as an art work. One main reason is that people mix up the Resurrection and in Accession very often. They often mistake the angel in the sky as Jesus rising up into heaven. This problem can be solved by clearly showing the tomb open. When that is shown clearly, it is easier to figure out what Scripture it is interpreting. In my artwork there are a couple of traditional interpretations of Scripture. These include, the sandy ground, and the open tomb. These have been interpreted straight from what the Bible states and what I imagine it to be. The contemporary interpretation comes in when the 3 women are looking at the angel. This is how people in the modern society worship God so that is how I interpreted what they would of done in that time. The main aspects of the art work that will appeal to others is the different colours in the picture. There is are very vibrant colours in this art work and this was done to get peoples attention. Another thing that will attract people is the transparent pictures. Using transparent pictures makes it look like there are actually people standing on the sand and that the tomb is on the sand. This artwork means a lot to me as it shows me many things about God. The first thing that means something to me is the power of God. God is so powerful and so almighty that he rose his only son from the dead on the third day. If God can do that in three days imagine what he can do in one, imagine what he could do with our lives if we follow him. The second thing that strikes me is how much God loves us. God loves us sinners so much that he sent his only Son Jesus Christ to die for us on the cross to set us free. That amount of love is something that cannot be explained and the only way we can love God back is if we turn to him and follow him. |
